It happens in the tears shed from a new life created. In the bottles and diapers. In the sleepless nites spent rocking, and singing, and praying. It happens in first words, and first steps, first birthdays, first nitemares, and first dreams come true.

It happens in scraped knees and swingsets, in Barbies and GI Joes, in cops and robbers and magical tree forts. It happens in make-believe.

It happens in starlite-star brite and mother-may-I. In report cards, and skool dances, and field trips. It happens in the kiss from your first puppy.

It happens in your first crush, your first date, your first kiss.
In holding hands.
In holding on.
In letting go.

It happens in your first job, your first paycheck, your first taste of freedom. It happens when you get your drivers liscence, and then your first car.

It happens on your 16th birthday.
Your 18th.
Your 21st.

It happens in your first boyfriend. Your first 'I love you.' Your first broken heart. It happens in the permenant tear stains on everyones pillow.

It happens on your wedding day. And then.. it happens all over again when your baby is born.

With shooting stars, rainbows, ice cream, balloons, tree climbing, concerts, heartache, roller skates, credit cards, computers, stereos, movies, poems, sports, smiles, and tears.. we build our lives.

And at the end, all we have to hope for is that we built something that we can be proud of.

That in between existing, we really learned to live.
